Custom Vanguard™ Powered Ride-on Trowel Grand Prize for Wacker Neuson’s Operator’s Challenge

MILWAUKEE, Wis. –– November 12, 2009 - Developed in partnership with Briggs & Stratton® Commercial Power, Wacker Neuson will be awarding a one-of-a-kind Vanguard™ BIG BLOCK™-powered ride-on trowel to the winner of their second-annual concrete trowel challenge during World of Concrete 2010.

Held in Wacker Neuson’s outdoor exhibit, the ride-on concrete trowel challenge tests the operator’s entire range of skills. The participant maneuvers around an obstacle course, weaving throughout a 2,000 square foot concrete stab. The 2009 trowel challenge winner, John Dekryger of Dekryger Concrete of Fremont, Mich., finished the course in less than 30 seconds.

In 2010, judges will add a few more course obstacles and an impact penalty meter to reward operator finesse, and further test the operator’s skills. All World of Concrete 2010 contractor attendees are eligible to compete on a first-come, first-served basis.

Preliminary trowel challenge competitions will be held at World of Concrete during show hours beginning on Tuesday, February 2, through Thursday, February 4, 2010. The top-10 preliminary obstacle course times will advance to the finals on Friday, February 5, to compete for the grand prize: a customized Wacker Neuson CRT 48-35VX ride-on concrete trowel, powered
by an exclusively built 35 gross horsepower Vanguard BIG BLOCK V-Twin engine.

The 2010 ride-on concrete trowel challenge grand prize has been donated by a collaboration between Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power and Wacker Neuson. Custom tuned at the Briggs & Stratton Engine Application Center (EAC), engineers built the special V-Twin Vanguard BIG BLOCK engine featuring tuned exhaust and other custom components for the CRT 48-35VX.

As more and more ride-on trowel manufacturers and contractors seek the simplicity of air-cooled power, many are looking to Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power, the leading innovator of large displacement, commercial V-Twin engines.

The Wacker Neuson - Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power special edition ride-on trowel began touring in October 2009, and will continue until it reaches its final destination at the 2010 World of Concrete, held in Las Vegas. Contractors in select U.S. cities will have the opportunity to see it displayed at jobsites and Wacker Neuson dealers.
