I am replacing the tired K321 Kohler in my Case 444 tractor. We use this tractor extensivly to put in gardens, mow yards and clear snow during the winter months. Based on experience working on Vanguards at the small engine shop where I work, I chose the Vanguard to replace the tired engine. The better fuel effiency, better power and smoothness cannot be denied. I expect to get many more years of use out of our tractor now.

I guess I have been using Vanguard and Briggs & Stratton engines ever since I took one off an old edger to power my first mini-bike some 45 years ago. That engine had run for years and even our abuse on the minibike couldn't kill it. Since then, I have had countless B & S and Vanguard engines on mowers, pumps, edgers, power washers and, most recently, two generators.
Recently during a power failure my neighbor needed a generator and I dragged out mine which had not been run in two years. I regularly change the fuel and oil in between seasons. It started on the first pull.

I have owned and used B&S engines for a lot of years for several different tasks. From home use mowers and tillers to rescue equipment that people's lives count on. If you want it to run like a life depends on it, buy a Briggs. The power and reliability of other engines can't compare.

I grew up working on B&S motors. I had them in go-carts and minibikes for years. My B&S engines were always easy to work on and they seemed to run for ever no matter how bad I messed with them. I recently bought a new garden tractor and went with another brand of engine because I was told it was better than a B&S. I even paid over $300 more than the same model with a B&S motor. It was the worst choice I've made in a long time. The machine was always being repaired by the dealer. The down time was so significant I had to sell it with less than 25hrs on it. I went back to a B&S Vanguard twin 18hp. I'm so glad to be back with an old friend! However, this time I don't have to work on the motor other than the routine maintenance. I'm so happy with this motor. Therefore, I'm taking the time to write this message and share my story. Please keep on building quality engines, you have a very loyal following. Best Regards

I own and operate a tree removal/stump removal service. I previously owned 3 different stumpgrinders that had kohler v twin motors -they all leaked oil after time, and did not produce enough power to grind stumps quickly. I now own a Carton SP 4012 stumpgrinder with a 35hp BRIGGS & STRATTON Vanguard Big Block V-Twin, and I love it. This motor has never had an oil leak, or a mechanical breakdown in the 3 years I have owned it. It is a very fuel efficient motor, and produces almost 60 ft. lbs. of torque, which is enough power to grind big stumps very fast. It is a easy motor to do maintenance on. I replace fuel filters, oil, oil filters, spark plugs, and air filters myself. This is an easy motor to maintain, and I am very happy with it. BRIGGS & STRATTON makes a great motor, and I will gladly tell anyone about it. Thank you, Paul Miller

I am 32 years old now and when I was a kid my father used only Briggs & Stratton for our fishing boat. Because of the durability and great running performance many of the fisherman here in the Philippines use Briggs & Stratton (Vanguard), even in farm, construction, and boat racing they use Vanguard. Vanguard is a multi task engine, that's why we like Briggs & Stratton (Vanguard).

My Grandfather owned Briggs and Stratton, then my father, and now me. They have always been reliable, powerful, and easy to service. I use the Vanguard engine on a commercial mower and it has never let me down. How can anyone argue with that type of record. One day my son will own something with a B&S engine, maybe it will be that same mower that my grandfather was so proud of when he bought it in the 60's. It still cuts good and is still powered by the original 8hp B&S engine.

Here in the Philippines we not only use Vanguard in our business, but also in racing. In boat racing we use a 13 HP Vanguard engine. Boat racing is a sport that is very popular among our locals. Yearly we have a competition and hundreds of people participate. We have a plan next year to compete in other countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia because they also have boat racing there. They use almost the same boat that we use, but with a different engine. We use Vanguard for our engine. If we are successful, the top four winners from the Phillipines will be the Representative in an international race!

I have a ten year old truck loader with a 16 hp Vanguard engine. The machine sits outside most of the year and starts on by the third pull after sitting spring and summer. This past fall we had so much rain, water had ran down the carb. and filled the engine with water. I drained the oil and carb. then flush it with compressed air, filled with new oil and fuel. Ran perfect all season. Briggs and Stratton work harder, start easier, and have a better cleaner repair history than Honda and Kawasaki.

Pumping crude oil from 3000 ft in the ground takes an engine that can provide plenty of industrial power. Vertical lift can amount to 30,000 lbs. but is also counterbalanced by a pumping unit with balance weights and some of our own modifications. The engine weight is 102 lbs. The torque that the 16 hp Vanguard can provide is the best we've found. We try and match the amount of work needed at the well with an engine that has the capability of running 24 hrs a day. Our 16 hp Vanguard can do it.

My 35 year old John Deere 140 is like new again!
I could not decide if I should rebuild my tired old engine in my John Deere or "repower" with a brand new Vanguard. I made the right choice and installed the 18hp Vanguard several months ago and it's just like having a brand new garden tractor. I am so pleased with the performance, in heavy grass the engine does not back down at all..it has plenty of power to spare!
If you have a tired old garden tractor that needs a state of the art modern engine I will suggest the Vanguard is the best choice! I have a video of my installation on youtube so please take a look if you have the time.

SEPTEMBER WINNER
Sirs- I have a 1995 Max-2 6x6 AATV. I have really enjoyed using it in every application it has perfomed excellent in all types weather, terrain and held up very well over the years. You make a great engine. The engine that's in my 6x6 is a 14hp v-twin,ohv,4-stroke engine. It's a 1995 model. It has been well cared for and maintained. I installed one of your oil coolers when they first came out on the market. I figure this has helped as well as the 3 small cooling fans I installed in the aatv's body to draw the engine heat out of the inner body of the aatv to help in cooling of the motor. I use my 6x6 in search and rescue for missing children and adults. It has done very well in all kinds of conditions from searing heat in the upper 90s and 100s in the summer to bitterly cold, down below freezing in the winter. I have really enjoyed the great service I get from my local Briggs dealer in my area. They have always been very helpful with my maintenance needs of this fine, tough, little engine. Thanks Sincerly Rick Pasour

I was very happy to get my B&S powered generator, as we had a very bad ice storm blow through here the later part of last month. I’m on oxygen 24/7 and needed power to run my oxygen pump as I was down to one bottle. My friends with 4-wheel drive and chain saws cut through the downed trees and power lines to get me a generator at Lowe’s that they had set aside for me. Without oxygen I have less than 3 hours of life left. This unit worked perfect. THANK YOU VERY MUCH BRIGGS & STRATTON, YOU SAVED MY LIFE.
