POWERING CHANGE.
MORE POWER.
GREATER PERFORMANCE.
INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY.
The all-new Vanguard® 29.9 Gross kW (40 Gross HP)* V-Twin engine featuring EFI and ETC technology is powering change across the board.
The compact engine design delivers more gross power and torque with no increase to dry weight, making it the perfect alternative to diesel – and for weight sensitive towable applications intended to remain below the maximum authorized mass.
Choke-less all-weather starting combined with automatic altitude compensation on start-up ensures optimal performance in any application and environment.
The advanced EFI and ETC technology delivers power-on-demand – improving efficiency – maximizing productivity – getting the job done.

Emissions Compliant
Designed to meet the most stringent global emissions standards, the new Vanguard 40 Gross HP EFI / ETC is EU Stage 5 emissions compliant without the need for expensive after-treatment filtration system for exhaust emissions.
EFI
Smart engineering proven by grueling real-world testing optimizes engine performance and makes Vanguard EFI engine technology the one built to last.
How it works: The Engine Control Module (ECM) constantly monitors and fine-tunes every single engine operating point thousands of times per minute. It takes in all of the signals from the engine sensors to make cycle-by-cycle decisions on how much fuel and spark to provide the EFI engine and when to do it.
ETC
Vanguard ETC technology reacts instantaneously to any applied load from its environment to maintain smooth, consistent power in any condition.ETC is only available on the new 29.9 gross kW (40.0 gross HP) engine.
Here's how it works: The flywheel speed sensor detects any change in RPM and sends a signal to the throttle body, ensuring consistent engine speed.
